The Velvet Singer Approach

Hi, I am Bill Bennett and I created Velvet Singer to help me manage my singing career. You will quickly pick up that I am an engineer and I have a unique approach to things like this. It is my belief that data can show you how to be more successful, and that it shouldn't take a lot of work to obtain objectivity and confidence about your career.

Velvet Singer Introduction

Velvet Singer is journaling with a kick. Training to be a professional singers is a lot like training to be a professional athelete. Data collection, analysis, results.

Experience

After graduating with high honors in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, Bill moved to Chicago to pursue a Masters in Music at DePaul University. In Chicago, he worked as a part-time consultant for Soliant Consulting where he refined skills as an analyst and database developer. While singing at the Chautauqua Voice Program, Bill developed a database that is used every summer to manage scheduling of students, teachers, coaches, rooms, concerts, and rehearsals.

"As the CEO of a mid-sized technology consulting firm, I've had the pleasure to work closely with Bill Bennett on dozens of projects over the past eight years. Bill is one of those rare individuals who excels at everything he attempts, be it database development, singing, or golf. His success results from a strong work ethic combined with deep technical skills, business savvy, rock-solid reliability, and exceptional communication skills."
